I Went back short

Reading Time: 2 minutes

There’s a cute quote by CoCo Chanel that says something about “when a woman cuts her hair she is about to change her life”! Boy was she right!! I have been in the pixie club for over a decade and I love it! About a week before having my second daughter Prestyn I got my hair braided in box braids. I decided to go this route because I was having a scheduled c-section and I remember how crazy I looked after having Parker. I figured the braids would be easy and allow me to look presentable to our many visitors that would be coming to see the new bundle of joy. I hadn’t worn braids in over 15 years and I love the ease of them and they made me look like I was 12 years old! LOL.

I kept the braids in for about 6 weeks. What a relief to not have to worry about my hair for that long, especially while trying to get adjusted to a new baby, making sure Parker was still feeling the love with a new baby around and back working (remote) by week three. (If you haven’t noticed by now I always do the most. lol)  Whew!!

When I took the braids down my hair had grown so much. My husband has never seen me with anything but short hair, so he was surprised to see how much it had grown and encouraged me to let it grow. I promised him I would let it grow for at least a year….and I did. I enjoyed trying a few different styles and colors but honestly I missed my short hair and was ready to get it back. After my hair started to break off, I KNEW it was time. Time to get back to me!! So here I am ME. Do you have a certain style that your comfortable with? have you ever rocked short hair? Braids? whats your go to?

I’ve been letting me hair grow for about a year or a little over….it’s grown significantly, but I miss my short hair! I’m trying to hold out, but by Summer, I might be back to the pixie! It’s nothing like a chic, short haircut!!!

I like my hair short when it’s relaxed. It just feels easier. Now that I’m natural and my shrinkage is the devil, I like it longer so it doesn’t look like a teeny weeny afro. My husband prefers it longer and relaxed. I let it grow past my shoulders at one point then started getting eczema and went natural.

Saidah! I understand, there are some great options out there now if you still wanted short hair but to stay natural. Check out Etae’ products.

Lauren, your hair is FIERCE honey! I’ve only had short hair when I did my big chop back in 2009. Short hair is NOT for me, lol! I prefer mid to longer length hair.

I love the hair cut. I cut my shorts a few months ago. I was unsure at first but now I am loving it.

I love you with long hair and with pixie!! You are so beautiful regardless!!! <3 I've always wanted to cut my hair short because I think the change would be refreshing. Maybe one of these days…..

I used to have short hair and miss it but my hair grows so slow I’m scared to go back. I have a really cute short wig I throw on from time to time to mix it up. You make any hairstyle look good. Great post!

I am currently rocking boxed braids (since Christmas time). I hate to do my hair now. I used to be in love with styling it and changing it up. Since having kids I feel like I have no time and frankly, no interest. I am natural and have been for over 6 years now. However, I miss having relaxed hair and I fantasize about relaxing it often lol. My go to style is typically a high bun with my hair slick down with EcoStyler gel.

You look great both ways but I love the short cut!! Mine is long right now (like past my bra strap) and it is getting in my way. I am trying to keep it long because my daughter always wants to do what I do and I don’t want to cut her hair!
